Lange Nacht der Museen Berlin 31.8.2019

Opening on the Museum Island

From this Summer, the James Simon Gallery is the entryway to the Museum Island. In the Long Night of Museums, the imposing open stairway of the building, designed by David Chipperfield, will become a stage: the State Youth Ballet of the Berlin State Ballet School will be dancing to the sounds of the first movement of Karl Jenkins’ famous suite for string orchestra ‘Palladio’, played by the string ensemble of the Musikgymnasium Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach. Come and experience this remarkable performance, with which the Long Night of Museums will be opening at 6 pm!

If you need some refreshments during the Long Night you will find a selection of international street food in front of the Neues Museum. At the information stand you will get tips for your individual Long Night planning. From the Museum Island you can easily walk to many nearby museums or take the bus to the Brandenburg Gate where four of the eight shuttle bus routes intersect.
